THERAPIST

Hayley Gould, LGPC, NCC (she/her)

Hayley is a licensed graduate professional counselor in Washington D.C. and Maryland. She received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida State University. Hayley has worked with those who have eating disorders at the PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels as well as those struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, transitions, trauma, relationships, and identity.

When working with clients, Hayley uses a narrative therapeutic lens to explore life experiences that have contributed to varying different issues and works together with her clients to help identify and challenge patterns that are no longer serving them. She also implements Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for practical coping skills to use in the day to day. Her sessions are intentionally adjusted to each person’s individual needs with a consistency of acceptance, validation, and cultural sensitivity. She also uses a Health at Every Size© and anti-diet approach when working with her clients.

Eating disorders can be all encompassing and can start to take over so many different aspects of your life. It becomes hard to do anything without hearing the eating disorder’s disapproving voice in your head making comments about your food intake, your body, and most painfully, who you are as a person. This voice is not you. You can gain the tools through therapy to fight back and regain your identity.

In Hayley’s free time, she enjoys seeing all musicals touring in DC, caring for her plants, and cooking food for herself and others.

Hayley is supervised by Kiran Denney, LPC.

THERAPIST

Megan Nemeth, MA, NCC, LPC (she/her)

Megan is a licensed professional counselor in the District of Columbia. She is passionate about utilizing her academic, professional, and clinical experiences to provide therapeutic support for those struggling with their mental health.

Prior to practicing in an outpatient role, Megan spent most of her time post-master’s working as a Primary Therapist for an eating disorder treatment center in DC. In her role there, Megan assisted clients at the PHP and IOP level of care, both individually and in group settings, in their journey to recovering from their eating disorders. When working with clients, Megan operates from a Health at Every Size© (HAES) and Anti-Diet approach to recovery.

Aside from treating eating disorders, Megan also works with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, body image/self-esteem issues, family conflict, relational/peer issues, OCD, stress, identity issues, trauma/PSTD and life transitions. Megan received her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University, has worked with diverse populations of teens and adults and is an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

It is Megan’s belief that therapy is an entirely collaborative experience, where the client is the expert of their own life. Megan’s theoretical orientation aligns with Narrative Therapy where she believes that everyone’s life is their own personal story, with events that make up and alter that story along the way. Each event can shape future experiences and outlook on life, and oftentimes hold power over us. It is Megan’s hope that together, a safe space for healing may be fostered, where there is the trust and security to challenge negative thought patterns, remove blame from oneself, and to regain power over your story. Along with Narrative Therapy, Megan also utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cultural Relational Therapy in her practice.

In her free time, Megan enjoys traveling, reading sappy rom coms for her book club, perusing Home Goods for the latest seasonal decor, and adding as much butter and garlic as she can when cooking.
